The county of Herefordshire is located in the west of England, and it is bordered by Shropshire, Worcestershire, Gloucestershire and Wales. Some recruitment agencies regard the county as the westernmost part of the West Midlands.
This largely rural part of England is not usually associated with heavy industry and logistics. Indeed, the local economy has undergone a transformation in recent years; moving away from manufacturing and agriculture and concentrating on the services sector. The biggest employers in Herefordshire are local government and the NHS, and local recruitment agencies will often have a selection of ambulance and community-based driving jobs available within these public organisations. Cider producer Bulmers and Cargill Meats are two of the major private sector employers in the county, and they both employ HGV and delivery drivers on a fairly regular basis.
