There is a great deal of scope for a social care role within the county of Essex. The county has a population of around 1.7 million people, with plenty of opportunities for employment within the social care sector.
Adult social care staff vacancies are often advertised by recruitment agencies, who are searching for employees to care for those over the age of 18 who need assistance due to a disability or their age. However, social care staff are also needed for children - whether these children have been abused, have a disability or have suffered trauma such as the loss of their parents.
Qualifications and entry requirements
Those working in the social care industry need to be passionate about people. Those under 18 will need to complete an apprenticeship, and you will find it easier to find a role if you have existing experience, either paid or voluntary, under your belt. CRB checks are required in all instances, and NVQs are sometimes also required.
Salaries
Recruitment agencies offer a range of social care positions throughout Essex, from part time voluntary work to full time, live-in positions. Hourly pay (for paid roles) starts at around £6 per hour, while employers can offer from £14,000 for full time roles.
