Kent is a home county situated in the South of England and is bordered by Surrey, Greater London, Essex and East Sussex. It has a population of around 1.5 million. Around 10% of people work in health and social work, but the industry that dominates for this region is retail.Social care is a much-needed industry type and a lot of jobs are through Kent County Council. Jobs span adult and children social work and also a cross-over of the two. Adults with learning difficulties or disabled adults, as well as vulnerable children or those that have been fostered or adopted are in need of social care.
Kent County Council offer advice, training and support for professional Social Workers, and they also host a range of partnerships and projects, including Excellent Homes for All (a project to deliver multi-purpose homes for society's vulnerable people), Making Social Services Sustainable (an initiative that looks at meeting the needs of present generations and sustaining this to future generations). Other non-council related jobs include care work or assistant care work roles by organisations such as Bluebird Care, which is a local provider of home care.
Recruitment agencies list contract and permanent social care jobs and employment in this sector is healthy due to the basic requirement of assistance in the local community. Staff are needed all levels from assistant to regional manager status.
