More information
The UK Media industry employs about half a million people and is known for its exciting career opportunities.
Although nearly half of all professionals in the sector possess university degrees, most Media jobs have no specific academic requirements. Relevant experience is often considered more important, and internships are a particularly popular way to enter the field.
Job roles in the sector can vary wildly, ranging from journalists to makeup artists. While recruitment agencies are one way of finding work, networking and direct enquiries are seen as equally effective ways of entering the sector.
It is estimated that around one-third of all positions are filled via job advertising, with the largest employers in the field being WPP, Sky, Bloomberg, M&G, and Saatchi.
